Most drivers in Jakarta hit the road with this mindset in their heads. Which is why I'm not interested in driving through the streets of my city even though I've had my drivers license for about a year now.
And that's another thing...
Most drivers here got their driver's license through bribery. Yeah, you can get through anything with bribery here. (One of the reasons why this country is so dis-functional). Wha-!? NO! I didn't bribe my way through to get my driver's license. I earned it fair and square complete with 2 fail attempts. The Written Test was rigged as well, so unless you bribe our way like the other 80-90%, you'll have to rely on luck to pass. Durrrr.....

When I took my written test, the examiner was so indifferent that he said, "Okay, it's almost lunch time, so I don't care what the hell you'll think. I'll read out the answers for all questions. What's important is that you should pay attention when driving, not the test. So...

Soooooo, yeah, this country's drivers are ruined, and honestly, the problem source for traffic is motorcycles and public transportation, excluding busway >.>
