I saw a fuzzy black caterpillar on our doorstep the other day and it was so cute.
I thought about what it would feel like if a caterpillar had an apple all to itself. Must've been pretty nice~
Bon appetit! is the default line I usually use to online friends who go 'Away' to have lunch or a snack. It's curious because I just realized that I use different languages of this phrase depending on whom I am around with, like for example:
Bon appétit! - Internet chats
Smakelijk eten! - Family and relatives
Itadakimasu! - Close friends, anime-junkie classmates (or at a Japanese restaurant)
S'lamat makan! - People in general
I don't remember how I ended up doing these things (I don't even speak French). And how come I never use the English phrase for "meal-thankings", despite being one of the languages I actually speak? So weird 0_o It's like, a part of my brain got scrambled at some point of my life ._.
Americans usually just use the French...otherwise we use quirky things like "Chow down!" or "Eat up!" (even though it goes in a downward direction....). I can tell which one is Dutch, too. It's very similar to German (though they use a different phrase that's closer to the French). Aka: the Dutch phrase is roughly "Tastefully Eat!" and the French is "Good Eat!".
