A Gaelic Blessing

This is one of the songs we are practicing for the Church choir. The title rang a bell because Celtic culture has always interested me and was one of the things I studied for my thesis. This is probably the first Celtic Christian song I've ever sung and I kind of like this one especially the ending.

Deep peace of the running wave to you
Deep peace of the flowing air to you
Deep peace of the quiet earth to you
Deep peace of the shining stars to you
Deep peace of the gentle night to you
Moon and stars pour their healing light on you
Deep peace of Christ, of Christ
The light of the world to you
Deep peace of Christ to you

  1. I love this choirs rendition of "For All the Saints". Not the biggest fan of the composer (John Rutter, and English composer who tends to write the same thing over and over again), but this is certainly one of his better works. If you like Irish hymns, I'd definitely suggest "Be Thou My Vision" or "The King of Love my Shepherd Is" (same tune as "O Breath on Me, O Breath of God", which is also pretty good).

  2. Is that Irish Gaelic or Scots Gaelic?

    1. To be honest. I don't know. Only studied the general things of Celtic culture. The lyrics of this song itself sounds English to me O_oa

    2. Yeah, I kinda messed up that question the other day, eh heh... ^_^°
I haven't had a good chance to check out that video, this week's been nuts, I'm going to try to have a listen tonight. Reading the lyrics, it seems like it would be Irish, but I'd have to hear the music as well.
