After I finished telling my story, a heavy look came to her face and she murmured, "Terrible, terrible, terrible. How could it have reached to this point..." There was nothing she could do since this was a family matter and she was an outsider and because she found that I had no fault in this she couldn't correct me any way.
So she calmly lead me to this scripture:
5 No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.
6 Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them.
7 “Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. 8 Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.
9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
-Joshua 1: 5-9 (NIV)
She found that I wasn't to blame, yet these things are happening nonetheless, so she thinks that God may be exercizing a boot camp to toughen up my character, and so she gave me a very biblical "Hang in there." scripture and reminded me that God won't give you more than you can bear.
It cheered me up, but sometimes I wish that God hasn't trusted me so much...

She has an excellent choice of verses. And yes, God has strange ways of building character, but I know you'll pull through it :)
ReplyDeleteOh, I sure hope you're right...
