Sorry it took me so long to post these. I was waiting for the comic series to reach a certain point.
So for the first two nights, we stayed at the Elephant Safari Park & Lodge located deep within the forests of Taro. Aside from being a vacation spot, the Elephant Safari Park also serves as an elephant preserve. All the elephants there were rescued from animal abuse. If you're an animal lover like I am, you'll love it there. Here's some of the pictures I took when we got there. Nothing says welcome like a fossilized mammoth, no?
We had a wonderful time getting up close and personal with the elephants.
The next morning we bathed an elephant after breakfast and had an elephant ride into the forest.
And of course, Canang Sari! Yes, I didn't forget about my viewers back on the net so I thought it would be a nice detail to snapshot this. It looks very.... intricate, don'cha think? Imagine having to make a dozen of these three times a day 0_0 Now THAT'S dedication for ya!
There's a free shuttle bus from the hotel to Ubud, where we went shopping for souvenirs, knick-knacks, and other crappy junk at the market place. We also had a chance to do what we Asians do best, haggling! I also get to disguise as a Chinese/Japanese foreigner (as long as I keep my mouth shut). There were some intriguing items sold there~
Kudos for you if you can guess how many owls and cats there are, ha ha ha. And if you were wondering, yes, I did bought a few penis keychains for my close friends (the guys of course 0_o). What? It was a good joke, I couldn't resist! ¦D
Dream Catchers! Lolwut? This isn't Balinese. More like native American I think. But wth, I bought some for souvernirs as well. They say the beads on the woven net dispel bad dreams and the feathers bring in good dreams. Sweet dreams~
We switched hotels on the third day and went to the beach this time. There was a certain *coughmishapcough* where I was forced to go Parasailing (I'll explain later in my next comic). As a person who has a fear of heights and bottomless waters, this was a huuuuuuuge leap of faith for me. But it was fun. The view was incredible!
Koru: HELL NO!! D8
Next, we went to Jatiluih Rice Terrace. Rice paddies everywhere! As one who lives in Indonesia, this was kinda boring (oops). Then we went to this show, kinda like a Balinese theater and at the end of the show there was this, umm... performance...
...charming 0_o
Personally, I think it would be much cooler if the blades actually did run through their bodies. Ha ha ha... no seriously ._.
Then we went to Uluwatu, the southern most point of all Bali. There's this steep cliff with a temple on top. Also there're monkeys everywhere. Careful, they can be very mischievous! For those of you who wear glasses, best to hold on to it or something. Oh btw the sunset is awesome. Go there on a clear day, during sunset! You won't be disappointed.
There're more photos actually, but it has me in it, so I won't post it (anonymity rocks!) :P After all there's a lot already anyways. Alright, to wrap things up I'll post one more. You guys liked the penis keychains and bottle openers, right? Then check this one out.
"Honey, that thing won't fit in you no matter how much you praise it.
It will only get bigger, trust me!"
Now that's fine arts B]
So everyday, before I went to bed, I would take my sketchbook and drew the stuff we did that day. Then I picked out the good ones, cropped, outlined, compiled it all together and... Voilà! Holiday Montage à la Koru.
Hope you enjoyed the photos C:
so many pingas D:
ReplyDeleteseriously that last pic is kinda disturbing >_>
also did one monkey groom you? xP
Nope. I was afraid they would scratch my camera lens, so I stayed clear of them.
