A little light reading

Spending years living in a non-English speaking country makes it hard to keep your English from rusting. So thanks to my mom's repetitive (almost nagging) reminder on how powerful reading can be and how it improved her vocabulary in her learning days, I've decided to start reading again.

About a week ago, I watched Prince Caspian on DVD and thought to myself, "Narnia is a good place to start as any." And since the next sequel of the movie will be out this December, I might as well read the book first. Adding to that, I've already read the first 4 books sometime in the past holidays. So I might as well finish what I've started.

The collection we have was a gift from a friend of mom's several years back. They wanted to buy the new released edition so they gladly gave their old collection to us, which was a very fortunate coincidence. Sure it had some bumps here and there on the cover, but the for books that old, it was in surprisingly good condition.

It's been awhile since I sat down and read a novel. The thing with novels is that once I've started reading it, I get too absorbed in it and it makes it impossible to put down, hence neglecting homework and everything else. Which is probably why I'm so particular on when I read my novels. Luckily I finished The Voyage of the Dawn Treader in about 2 days, so it didn't really get in the way with studies.

Having both finished the book, my mom and I will probably start deciphering its contents over dinner (as we always do with other books or movies). She, for one, finished reading the entire series long ago. Only weeks after we received the books, if I'm not mistaken. And all in one go. Pheew, I wish I had that much free time on hands right now :D

  1. Awesome, I just reread the series over summer for the 4th time, it's definitely one of my favorites. Are you reading them chronologically or by when they were written?

  4. Oh really? Well I haven't read them all, so I can't really pick, but so far I very much enjoy:
-The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe
    -and The Magician's Nephew.
